Recycling

The Lions Eyeglass Recycling Program was adopted as an official service activity of Lions  Clubs International in October 1994. However, Lions have been recycling eyeglasses for  more than 70 years. The goal of the program is to meet the demand of quality eyeglasses in developing nations. It costs less than eight cents to provide someone with recycled eyeglasses.

All types of eyeglasses and sunglasses are acceptable. Reading glasses are very useful  because many recipients are in need of visual correction to help them perform close-up  tasks. Sunglasses are needed for people living near the equator to shield their eyes from the sun's damaging rays.

For more information, contact your local Lions Club at: 606 348 9517

Eyeglass collection boxes are located in the local banks and in the local optometrists' offices.

Lions Clubs recycle approximately seven million pairs of used eyeglasses each year. Help someone in a developing country see, donate your old glasses to the Lions' Recycling Program!
