Club Activities
November - Purchased 2 new eyeglasses and collected 14 used eyeglasses. Held 8 November pancake breakfast. Donated: $1,000 - Lake Cumberland Children's Advocacy Center; $250 - Kentucky Diabetes Foundation; $200 - Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation KidSight; $200 - WHAS Crusade for Children; and $200 - Emergency Outreach December - Participated in Chamber of Commerce Parade. Purchased 12 pairs of new eyeglasses and collected 16 used pairs. Club members donated $221.00 to local DAV and one member donated $500.00 to the KLEF Service Endowment Campaign. January - Purchased 1 pair of new eyeglasses and collected 46 pairs. Four Lions conducted a camera vision screening at Kidz Zone. Two members attended Governor's Cabinet Meeting. The club pledged $4,500 to the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation Endowment Fund. February - Purchased 6 pairs of new eyeglasses and collected 25 pairs of used eyeglasses. Ten Monticello Lions attended the 23 February meeting of the Somerset Lions Club. March - Purchased 4 pairs of new eyeglasses and collected 43 pairs of used eyeglasses. Donated $100 to KET and placed an ad in District 43 C Convention Program. Five Monticello Lions attended District Convention and one Lion visited the Powell County Lions Club at Stanton. April - Purchased 11 pairs of new eyeglasses and collected 60 used eyeglasses for recycling. Held the club's 21st annual auction. Lion Rebecca Martin sponsored new member Donna Neal. Welcome Donna!! Donated: $75.00 - Wayne County Jr. Miss Program, $50.00 -Chamber of Commerce Spring Fest, $200.00 - KLEF, $200.00 - Candy Day, $200.00 - Trooper Island, $100.00 - Project Graduation May - Purchased 7 pairs of new eyeglasses and collected 43 pairs of used eyeglasses. Donated $1,000 to the Aspire Center. Held White Cane Day. June - Purchased 3 pairs of new eyeglasses and collected 17 used eyeglasses for recycling. Donated $100.00 to the National Fire Safety Council. Three Monticello Lions attended District 43C Officer Training. Lions are operating the club's concession stand at the Wayne County Fair. R.J. Martin joined the club during June. Welcome R.J. |
